Today, Ill talk about our first few days there...
After a 16-hour flight, we finally got to the city of Malolos, Bulacan..the province where my dad grew up. My dad was the "Hermano Mayor" that year, which pretty much means you sponsor (aka PAY for) the city's annual fiesta for their patron saint--theirs being St. Francis of Assisi. So as we're driving down the road, the sights and smells bring back old memories, but then we pull up into a large driveway with green banners--it was my Dads newly remodeled house! It's no wonder he wants to retire there- the place is huuge, air-conditioned, servants, and everybody there respects him so much more (there were even banners).
the house was already decorated with all this when we came
the backyard was really nice, and theres my sister preggy--we wanted to see how much she would grow while we were there
PESOS!
Afterwards, we headed to visit TATANG! He passed away in 1999, but I havent been there since so it was nice to fiinally visit him & of course the palengki (sp??)
their graves are above the ground.
having fun on our first tricycle ride to the palengki (sp?) :)
Cant you just smellll the stinkiness?!! So this wraps up day 1 & 2 in the homeland!
Anyways, my fever has finally stopped today. At one point, I actually was really scared that I had meningitis because of the symptoms I was having. I began to develop a very stiff neck, a dry cough, and what felt like too much achy pressure in my head...on top of the high fevers and chills. I was almost tempted to go an urgent care, but Im retarded and like to diagnose myself...plus, I was actually really scared to find out if I had that bc people actually die from that. I stopped the dayquil and switched to Motrin..and voila! Still dont have the energy to go to the gym and all that, slowly but surely. I am for sure not refusing the flu vaccine like I did this year for the simple fact that I didnt want to get a shot, hahaa. I really never, ever wanna go through that again (although i know there are worst things in life). So now I am in recovery mode-- changed my toothbrush and sheets! I feel human again.
Saturday is Lynns bday bbq, if you guys can attend later in the afternoon. It'll be fun :) I think she'll have tacos and burgers + drinks, so maybe it can be destination#1 for that night?
K, time to rest in bed. gotta conference early in the morning...what a long blog.
